Among all the Hindu temples of Goa, Mangeshi Temple or Mangueshi Temple is the one which is one of the major temples in Goa. The temple is located in the Mangeshi Village. The temple is dedicated to Lord Manguesh who is considered as the incarnation of Lord Shiva.

  • The temple was first constructed in 1543 and later shifted to its current place to conserve it from invasions.
  • Temple is boasted with beautiful architecture.
  • Festival is boasted with the weekly festival where idol of lord is taken out for Aarti.
  • Other deities compacting in the temple are Ganesha, Nansi, Parvati and Gramapurusha Deva Sharma of Kaudanya Gotra.

Brahma Temple of Pushkar is considered as the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma the creator of the universe, but the there is one more temple of Brahma which is dedicated to Lord Brahma. Located in the Nagargao Gao in Valpoi Goa.

  • The temple is dated back to 12th century and was built during Kadamba period.
  • The Idol of Lord Brahma is chiseled out of black stone and is located in the centre adorning beard.

One of the most amazing temples of Goa dedicated to Goddess Laxmi; The Mahalakshmi Temple is quite famous among the locals and the travellers. Goddess Lakshmi is considered as the goddess of health and wealth. The temple was faced a huge renovation in 1983 interestingly the temple was built back in 1818 AD.

  • The temple is dedicated to Goddess Laxmi who is the Goddess of wealth and prosperity.
  • This is the first every Hindu temple built in Goa after invasion of Portuguese.

4. Nageshi Temple

The temple is located is one of the major Shiva temple in Goa. It is located in a small town of Bandora and was constructed in 1413 AD which make this place boasted with rich historical importance. The interesting part about this temple is that, it is still situated at the same place where it has been established. Since with the demand of time, the place is has been renovated many a time since its construction.

  • Major attractions of this temple are carvings, colorful paintings that narrate stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata.

A very famous temple of Goa, Shantadurga Temple is one of the most amazing pilgrim sites in the state of Goa. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga, idol of whom is established in a calm form. The deity of the temple is also known as Jagriti Devta who is holding a shield in one hand and a Trident in other.

  • Legend has Lord Vishnu and Shiva had furious fight here which was settled by Goddess Durga in her Shanta Durga manifestation.
  • The temple was shifted to Kavlem when destroyed by Portuguese in 1738 AD and later shifted to Cavellossim.
  • The temple is quite popular among the travellers national and international.
